市场需求：
　　学前教育是城市公共服务体系的一个重要组成部分，也是基础教育的一个有机组成部分和起始阶段。上海在“科教兴市”的新一轮发展中，必须使优质的学前教育成为上海落实“三个代表”思想，满足最广大人民群众需求的标志之一，成为上海优化投资环境，引智、引资、育智、育才的重要标志之一；成为上海作为“最适宜居住城市”吸引国内外居民入住上海、青睐上海的重要因素之一；成为上海教育闻达于世界教育的理由之一。
　　在国际教育研究领域中，学前教育对人和社会发展的作用正被越来越多的人所认识。所谓学前教育，在幼托一体化的今天，是对0岁至6岁儿童的教育，是国民教育终身教育的最初一步。学前教育在为人的一生发展打下基础的同时，成为了民族素质的奠基石。
　　上海是我国学前教育最发达的地区之一，高质量的学前教育必须有高质量的师资作保证。原上海多所幼师和大专院校培养了一批学前教育的师资，但在前几年的教育调整中停办，合并高校，以致于现今若大个上海在2004年高校招生中，《学前教育》专业仅华师大本科，上师大本科及行健学院高职三所学校招生。犹如杯水车薪，每年缺千人以上师资。
　　据市人口计生委在今年9月6日的情况通报会上透露：在2000年上海的常住人口达1640余万，居中国第一，世界特大城市第六，外来人口达387余万，仅上海户籍人口去年出生5.7万余人，按此比例，上海学前教育儿童达20多万人。另据统计，上海目前建有的244个社区中，每个社区都有几所幼儿园，这些幼儿园都急需大量的学前教育师资，尤其是近几年新建的、硬件设施较好的民办幼儿园更是迫切需要高素质的学前教育师资。此外，上世纪八十年代前后人口出生高峰的一代人，如今进入生育年龄段，人口出生将逐年增加，据权威人士预测，至2010年，上海幼儿园入托入园数将达高峰值。

培养目标：
　　 本专业旨在培养适应社会主义现代化建设事业需要，德、智、体、美全面发展的、较系统地掌握学前教育知识、能够使用现代化教学设施与设备、具有从事幼教工作所必须的基本技能和一定的教育实践能力、能符合上海地区学前教育发展和改革需要的、立足于幼教工作第一线的学前教育师资。

　（1）知识要求
　　① 掌握为培养良好的职业道德、敬业精神及团队合作精神、求实开拓和创新精神所必需的人文知识和科学素养；
　　② 掌握阅读、理解有关“学前教育”专业的英语资料及试行“双语”教学所必备的外语知识；
　　③ 掌握计算机基础应用和多媒体制作必须的知识；
　　④ 掌握心理学、教育学的基本理论知识；
　　⑤ 掌握学前儿童心理学、学前儿童教育学、幼儿卫生保健学的基本理论知识；
　　⑥ 掌握幼儿家庭教育、保育的基本理论知识；
　　⑦ 掌握儿童文学和艺术教育及在幼儿园教学中运用的基础知识。

　（2）能力要求
　　①具有较强的从事幼儿园教育、教学工作的能力；
　　②掌握幼儿园班级管理方法；
　　③具有一定的与学生及家长进行双向交流的能力；
　　④掌握运用现代教学设施、设备，营造一个身心健康的环境的技能；
　　⑤具有一定的幼儿卫生保健能力；
　　⑥熟悉幼儿语言，口齿清楚，具有一定的表达艺术。

Aim:
　　The aim of the program is to produce high-level all-round preschool education personnel who excel at moral awareness, professional knowledge and skills, health, aesthetic awareness and diligence, have basic theoretical knowledge of pediatric psychology, pedagogics and child care, have good backgrounds in children literature, arts, and are able to use modern teaching devices.
