市场需求：
随着经济全球化趋势的加强，科学技术尤其是信息技术突飞猛进，企业生产资料的获取、产品营销范围的扩大，社会生产、物资流通、商品交易及其管理方式正在并将继续发生深刻的变革。与此相适应，被普遍认为企业在降低物质消耗、提高劳动生产率以外的“第三利润源“的现代物流已在世界范围内广泛兴起，正在成为全球经济发展的一个重要热点和新的经济增长点。物流对于社会经济所起的作用越来越重要，对于推进我国经济体制与经济增长方式的根本性转变和实现可持续发展战略都具有非常重要的深远的意义。它将成为我国经济在新世纪发展的重要产业和新的经济增长点。
我国物流发展正处于一个起步阶段，与先进国家物流业尚有较大差距。随着我国加入WTO和上海向国际全面开放，物流必将成为竞争最激烈的行业之一。方兴未艾的物流热已在全国兴起，《上海市国民经济和社会发展第十个五年计划》也把现代物流作为重点培养的新兴产业。因此我们急需大量高素质的《物流管理》专业人才，并将在相当长的一个时期内是上海市的紧缺人才。
培养目标：
本专业培养适应社会主义现代化建设需要，德、智、体、美、劳全面发展的，有扎实的现代化物流管理理论和较高运作技能的，能在社会化现代物流中心及企业物流管理部门从事物流管理工作的高等技术应用性人才。
业务能力：
本专业的学生应具有良好的职业道德，较强的工作责任心和质量意识、团队精神、服务精神；具有较强的分析、解决问题的能力；具有开拓、创新精神和实际动手能力。熟悉国家有关方针、政策与法规，掌握从事物流管理的基本经济理论知识、掌握商品流通和物流管理的理论和方法、熟悉各种集装箱运输方式及其运营组织方法、熟练掌握计算机应用技术进行物流管理、具有运用物流管理现代技术和手段，解决物流管理中问题的能力，具有较高的运行和管理技能、较熟练地掌握英语，从事物流管理中相关的法规及业务工作。
就业领域：
毕业生可分配到：物流配运中心在集货、储存、流通加工、配货、配送等岗位物流管理工作、物流运输管理部门（如铁路、公路、水路、航空、管道运输等）在发送管理、运输安全管理、接运管理、中转管理等岗位从事物流管理工作、物流营销部门在市场调研、物流服务营销等岗位从事物流管理工作、国际化或区域采购、生产、配送等部门的相关岗位上从事物流管理工作。

Aim:
The aim of the program is to produce high-level all-round technical expertise who have basic knowledge of management, economics, law, sociology, administration, etc., managing competence, awareness of information and network, and technical skills of modern management and network maintenance.
